I was fascinated last week to watch the Channel 4 programme Don't Look Down, about urban free climber James Kingston last Sunday. Fascinated not like so many because of the danger aspect to it or because of how irresponsible those in the programme were being for doing what they have (and will continue to do) such as reported in Metro News or Cambridge News. But as I sat there, all I could see, was the understanding that has come from the last few years of studying Integral Theory and the work of David Deida. I felt great compassion for James and the others and had a real urge to want to talk to them about what I know and compare it to their experience of the hanging and free climbing they engage in.
I wanted to share with you all this excellent article written by Martin Ucik on Integral Relationships. Martin has a great way of combining the tow topics and I thought his insights in this newsletter were well worth sharing. I'm grateful to Martin for letting me share this article of his in its entirety for your benefit.
Should you wish to comment and share please do and also take the time to go to Martin's site on Integral Relationships by follwing one of the links in the article. Happy reading.
In the first post in this series I suggested that we (as Kinesiologists) have been avoiding the dark emotions of the heart, that we have been 'watering down' the more detrimental energies of the heart meridian. Replacing them instead with less substantial emotional ideas or simply suggesting that the negative emotions are simply 'lack of' concepts such as joylessness. This second post will continue that theme by looking at the heart from the perspective of Chakra energy which is also used a concept a great deal in kinesiology, but has suffered the same fate.
This 2 part post is going to examine an idea that I had earlier this year about whether or not (in kinesiology as I have been taught it and in a wider perspective) we are avoiding the true negative (or destructive, or detrimental) dark emotions of the heart? Are we as a western society aiming to play down or suppress the negative emotions that we hold in our heart space? Is there a silently agreed upon, cultural denial of the true nature of our hearts when they become pathological or reactive?
